EVALUATION OF SERUM EOSINOPHIL-DERIVED NEUROTOXIN IN CHILDREN AS A BIOMARKER FOR ASTHMA DIAGNOSIS AND CONTROL

چکیده

Asthma symptoms include wheezing, coughing, dyspnea, and chest tightness, as well variable degrees of airway blockage hyper-responsiveness. Many biomarkers have been widely studied in asthmatic children for asthma diagnosis monitoring. Clinical decisions related to control status traditionally based on subjective symptoms, rescue medication use, lung function changes. Biomarkers reflecting remain controversial. Although a standard definition eosinophilic has not developed yet, peripheral blood eosinophil counts ≥150 cells/µL, ≥300 or ≥400 cells/µL used trials adult populations describe can readily be identified primary care setting. Specific used, including count, sputum count (%), fractional excretion nitric oxide (FeNO), serum periostin level. One the emerging is Eosinophil-derived neurotoxin (EDN), which degranulated protein. Bronchoconstriction hyper-responsiveness are more closely associated with presence eosinophil-derived neurotoxic eosinophil-cationic protein (ECP) inflamed airways.

Eosinophil-derived neurotoxin: a novel biomarker for diagnosis and monitoring of asthma

Asthma is associated with increased levels of eosinophils in tissues, body fluids, and bone marrow. Elevated levels of eosinophil-derived neurotoxin (EDN) and eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) have been noted in asthma patients. Higher levels of EDN and ECP are also associated with exacerbated asthmatic conditions. Thus, EDN, along with ECP, may aid the diagnosis and monitoring of asthma. Sever...

Serum Myeloperoxidase as A Biomarker of Asthma Severity Among Adults: A Case Control Study

Background: The contribution of neutrophils is still indistinct in the inflammatory response of bronchial asthma (BAs). Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an  enzyme released from the primary azurophilic granules of the neutrophils. The study aimed to evaluate the levels of serum MPO as a biomarker for the assessment of the level of asthma control.  Methods: The study participants included 94 asthmat...

development and implementation of an optimized control strategy for induction machine in an electric vehicle

in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...

Purification of human eosinophil-derived neurotoxin.

Human and animal eosinophils contain a powerful neurotoxin that causes selective neuronal and axonal damage to white matter of cerebellum and spinal cord of experimental animals when injected intrathecally. This reaction is termed the "Gordon phenomenon." We purified the eosinophil-derived neurotoxin from eosinophil-rich leukocyte suspensions or eosinophil granules from four patients with vario...

Eosinophils and eosinophil-derived proteins in children with moderate asthma.

Laboratory parameters can contribute to the diagnosis of asthma, which is often a difficult procedure in paediatric patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) and eosinophil-derived neurotoxin (EDN) in the diagnosis of paediatric asthma. The number of eosinophils, serum ECP and EDN, and urinary EDN were determined in 22 children with stable...
